About NZFMM

The New Zealand Federation of Meccano Modellers

In the 1970's a group of Meccanomen throughout the country, each with a deep interest in MECCANO as a hobby and a passion for making models, formed the New Zealand Federation of Meccano Modellers with the aim of setting up a communication network to establish a magazine and to hold national meetings from time to time to enable modellers to show off their skills to fellow modellers and to be able to display to the public what MECCANO was / is all about.

New Zealand Federation of Meccano Modellers Magazine ( NZFMM Magazine )

This magazine is written and produced for meccanomen by meccanomen. The aim of the magazine is to: Publish articles and photographs about Meccano and Meccano models, to report the outcomes of meetings of the various Meccano clubs throughout the country, to print letters expressing the views of Meccano modellers, to keep members informed of future events and to print advertisements of Meccano related things. The current editor is David Couch, email: david.couch46@gmail.com.

NZFMM National conventions / exhibitions

Many Meccano exhibitions have been mounted around New Zealand over the years since the formation of the NZFMM providing the opportunity for Meccano modellers to meet, discuss Meccano related issues and of course to display their models, individual skills and to yarn to other members and the general public.

The biennial convention/exhibition of the NZFMM is held over the Easter weekend at different locations around New Zealand in odd numbered years, and is generally hosted by one of the major New Zealand Meccano clubs on behalf of the NZFMM. During the intervening even numbered years an informal gathering for NZFMM members "March Madness/April Antics" is held on a weekend in March or April at a central North Island location (usually New Plymouth or Taupo).

The current President of the NZFMM is
Reg Barlow, email: reg_barlow123@hotmail.com
